Doctoral Assistant Scholarships Position in Public Economics, University della Svizzera Italiana
The Institute for Microeconomics and Public Economics (MecoP) at the Faculty of Economics,University of Lugano, invites applications for up to two Doctoral Assistant positions for up to four years. The starting date is October 2010, but a later date is possible. The working environment (including infrastructure and remuneration for teaching and research assistance) is very attractive.
The successful candidate(s) will be full-time PhD students at the University of Lugano, under the supervision of Professor Jametti. As such the candidates’ main focus will be on doctoral research and completion of related PhD courses (with a possibility to pursue doctoral courses at the Study Center Gerzensee). The research topics will be in Political Economy and/or Fiscal Federalism with an emphasis on empirical applications. Since the positions are financed through grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation, research projects will insert themselves into these projects. In addition candidates will provide part-time assistance in the institute’s research projects and teaching activities.
The ideal candidates have, or are upon completion of, a Master’s degree in Economics,
Econometrics or a related field.

* Applicants should be US or Canadian citizens. Foreign nationals must have studied at an accredited US or Canadian university for at least two years by the time of application.
* At the time of application, Applicants must not have been resident in Germany for more than one year.
* Applicants are requested to have a well-defined study project that makes a stay in Germany essential. Preference will be given to applicants who have been invited by a faculty member at a German university to study at a particular university department.
* Applicants in the arts, humanities and social sciences should have a good command of German.
* Applicants may not hold a DAAD grant and a grant from another German or German-American organization/German-Canadian organization concurrently for the same project. Prior recipients of a DAAD grant should contact DAAD New York before applying to determine their eligibility status.

The US Friends Student Scholarships Agriculture
The US friends scholarship is offered, through competitive application, to up to 3 US students undertaking any of the University’s four Study Abroad strands, these include: Pre-medical; Arts and social Sciences; Agriculture and Engineering; Business and finance.
The Scholarship is offered for one year and is worth $2000
Scholarship winners will be invited to attend the University’s Annual Donor Scholarship Event in June 2011.

Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Scholarships
These scholarships are jointly funded by the ACU, the University of Westminster and International Students House. They are available to you if you are a member of staff of the ACU member institutions in developing countries looking to study a full-time Masters in Human Resource Management or Public Relations or another area which is needed by your home university. CASTME Scholarship
The CASTME Scholarship is an annual award to study a Masters degree at the University of Westminster in London There is one general scholarship i.e. students from any Commonwealth country may apply and two others for students from Mauritius and Antigua.
The scholarships are competitive and we anticipate high numbers of applications.
The scholarship consists of payment of Tuition fees at the University of Westminster, accommodation, flights, visa costs, an arrivals allowance, (for suitable clothing) a book allowance and a living allowance of £400 per month, consisting of £250 cash and £150 food allowance. The value of this award is c. £25,000.
